Oil Painting Classes

Want to learn to paint in an structured program of class lessons so you will be able to create the art you dream about?

Unfortunately, after much advertising I could not find YOU in time this year--someone in the vicinity of Merrimac Ma who either has no painting experience or wants to build on their present talent and take it to the next level.  My classes will be running from March through August, except for private lessons, but I didn't sign up enough people (4-6) to hold it in 2012.  I'll work on word-of-mouth and plan to do it in 2013.

If you wish to have private or semi-private instruction on Wednesdays either from 9-noon or 12:30 to 3:30 this can be arranged by emailing me or by phone.  The charge at this time is only $25 per class.

Classes will start early April

Art lessons are HOT!  It's the new thing.  More newly retired persons are recreating themselves with their pursuit of art. Art is one thing that only gets better as we get older.  Give me a call or email to join this easy and fun class to learn or improve your oil painting, whether you are already painting or wish to start.
There will be a morning class once a week from 9 to noon for the serious beginner group and another from 12:30 to 3:30 for those who already have some knowledge of color, value, composition, application, etc.
The day of the week will be determined by  majority vote except for Fridays.  Classes will be limited to 6 so call right away.  There is a possibility of Saturdays or evenings for painters or aspiring artists who work weekdays.  Some details of the curriculum are offered below.

This blog will be an interactive blog for only members of the class and will be viewed only by members of the class after it commences.

Details of the "serious beginner" class:  We will learn everything about the process of painting from how to hold the brush, how to pick up and apply paint, what to paint on, what colors to use and how to use them and how to mix them, how to draw as it applies to painting, how to design and compose your painting, and lots more.  I encourage questions and will make sure that you get the answers so understanding the process will be fun and easy and interesting.  You will have a new appreciation for art that you are looking at.  You will have homework and projects to work on to help you with hurdles you may encounter.  It will be helpful if you can begin at the beginning of the course and work through to the end for about 4 months.  This course will be offered annually.  You could not get this information and assistance anywhere for this price and in this short time period.

Details of the "painting" class:  You can pick your project and then receive the level of input you wish.  We will discuss artists, art styles, terminology and technique and have mini-workshops to work on increasing everyone's abilities.  Many people have never had the time or opportunity to actually learn how to paint.  The old school method of learning how to paint was like being thrown into the deep end of the pool, etc.  I can assist you to fill in the gaps in your painting abilities and rekindle your enthusiasm as you continue to change and experiment with your artistic journey.  During the nice weather we can even step outside onto the patio to paint plein air.  I would like to meet you and discuss your work and your plans.
